Kids posing. The girl in the right rear of the photo, leaning away, is Rehema. She was adorable and was the child I most wanted to photograph. Of course, she was also the only kid who ran from the camera instead of to it.

I had read the story of how Steve McCurry took his famous picture of the Afghan girl, Sharbat Gula. He knew immediately that he wanted to photograph her, but he took shots of other kids first to put her at ease. I was trying the same thing with Rehema, but wasn't successful.
