Rock Climbing --- 8/10/2011 - 8/18/2011 --- Gunks and Peter's Kill
Alex and I drove down Wednesday and set tents. Thursday we met up with Zupes and ran into his godfather, Mike. Zupes led Absurdland and Ant's Line. We all took a few TR burns on Ent's Line. Then Mike led the 5.8 first pitch of Splashtic so we could all climb it.
Friday we started on Birdland since neither Zupes nor Alex had ever climbed it. Zupes and I swung leads. Then Alex led Loose Goose. We finished the day with a TR on Shit or Go Blind. We all got the direct variation clean. I've wanted to do that climb for ages, so it was a good day. Quick swim to wash up, then dinner with Meredith. Adam and Hank also hung out with us in the evening. We drove out to a field to watch the Perseids and all managed to see at least one in spite of the cloud cover. Katie arrived late at night and I got to see her and Adam over the weekend.
Over the weekend, Alex and I ran the rock site for RC3 and RC4. A bit of rain, but everyone had fun. We dropped them off on Monday to pouring rain. Tuesday we picked up RC1 and RC2. They eventually dried out and had a great time toproping and rappelling at Peter's Kill. By Wednesday everyone was so tired that I had plenty of time to climb myself. Got in nine laps, including two on the sw face of Scrotum Pole and a clean run up Fickle Fingers. After that we went swimming at Minnewaska and finished the trip with some pizza in town.
