Party --- 12/13/2009 --- Ithaca
Oh, and I didn't get any pictures from the dark chocolate themed dessert party at 504 two days earlier, but I did want to record the recipe for the torte that Emily and I made. We just innovated in the kitchen, but the results were amazing. I'll definitely want to make it again.
Crust: Mash about 2C bran flakes with 2oz brown sugar, 2oz melted butter and 1oz melted dark chocolate. Press into an 8" pie plate and bake at 350F for 10 minutes and allow to cool. The crust was ok, but next time I'd go with a more traditional flour/butter/sugar crust.
Filling: 1lb mascarpone cheese, 1C sugar, 2t vanilla all mixed together until creamy. Pour half into the crust. Then grate a thick layer of dark chocolate into the pie plate. I'd say about 4 oz of chocolate. Pour the rest of the mascarpone into the crust. Top with sliced banana and another 4oz of dark chocolate broken into small chunks or shavings. Refrigerate for at least one hour.
