Rock Climbing --- 8/21/2010 - 8/22/2010 --- Gunks
Emily, Carolyn and I drove to the Gunks to meet up with Liz. And somehow Anna climbed with us... twice.
We started the day climbing Beginner's Delight as a party of four. It went pretty smoothly. Liz's first trad climb and first multipitch climb! Then I led the first pitch of Snooky's so everyone could toprope it. After that we set a toprope on Red Cabbage Right. While Emily and Liz climbed that, I led Herdie Gerdie with Carolyn. Finished the day just as the sun set by going up Red Cabbage Right to clean both anchors.
Back at the DEC, we enjoyed a classy dinner and dessert. The rain started around 3am and didn't stop for the next 24 hours. So in the morning we ate a quick breakfast and departed for our respective homes.
Semi interesting tidbit: This is my third trip to the Gunks in the past two weeks. The first trip I slept in my new Big Agnes tent. The second trip I was in a COE Sierra Designs tent. And this trip I slept in my old Eureka tent. So is shelter the most significant human invention ever? Or maybe an illuminated antibiotic printing press?
