Rock Climbing --- 6/14/2013 - 6/17/2013 --- Gunks

Saturday we started on Finger Locks or Cedar Box so Sammy could climb it, then try a mock lead. After that we went to Annie O. I was not enjoying the runout and not feeling well, so I bailed to Three Doves, then needed an assist from above due to the rope drag and general Jeff drag. Not ideal. The second pitch went really well. After that we climbed Moonlight and did the spicy traverse. My CAMouflaged #1 again succeeded in being left behind. Before the traverse. Crap. Luckily the party after us got it and returned it. Done for the day, we went for a very cold swim at split rock and saw two black bears while heading back down clove road! The first bears I've ever seen in NY! It was awesome. Highlight of the trip.

Sunday we started on Farewell to Arms, then climbed Birdland. After that we climbed Grease Gun Groove with the 5.8 roof crack variation. I had to climb it a second time to retrieve a stuck cam, so I tried the start just to the right of GGG. Apparently it is in the Purple Dick as a 5.12 variation. I got all the moves but the last, then decided my fingers were done. Fun boulder problem.

Monday we took advantage of the lack of crowds and jumped right on Madame G's. After that we ran up Beginner's Delight. Then we climbed Sleepwalk to put a rope on Ent's Line (didn't think I'd spend three days at the Gunks without climbing Ent's Line, did you?) It started raining as we cleaned Sleepwalk. Ent's Line was staying dry, so I gave it a try. Got above the roof cleanly, but after that the holds were wet and it took a few hangs to reach the chains.
