Paddling --- 7/20/2013 - 7/22/2013 --- 1000 Islands

Canoeing and camping in the St. Lawrence Seaway. We left Ithaca in a thunderstorm on Saturday and drove north to a weekend of perfect weather. We arrived Saturday evening and set up camp at Wellesley Island State Park. The park is HUGE and crowded, but we managed to get a nice private site, right on the water. Went for a quick paddle in the choppy water. Nearly reached Abercrombie Island (yup) but decided the chop was a bit much. Nice dinner and excellent bonfire. Sunday we spent the day paddling the region in much calmer water. We made it to Canada, where we snuck ashore and ate lunch. Then paddled to Waterson Point State Park. In the afternoon we went to the Minna Anthony Common nature center and butterfly garden. Then we moved camp to Kring Point State Park where we got another private site right on the water. We had another excellent dinner and a lame bonfire. In the morning we paddled the entire area, including a complete circuit of Goose Bay. Then we ate a very large container of gelato and headed back to Ithaca. In a thunderstorm.
