Ice Climbing --- 12/23/2017 - 12/26/2017 --- Adirondacks
Drove up in a storm Saturday evening. Adam and I climbed Multi Gully on Sunday. So you really really do need two ropes to get down. We brought a second rope, then looked at the intermediate rap station and decided to leave the second rope on the ground. Oops. Turns out that intermediate rap station is about 180' below the top of the climb. We managed (without even needing a v-thread) but lost a biner we used in a biner block rappel when it popped off the rope! Lesson learned... that biner needs to be a locker (also, if it accidentally clips something while pulling the rope that could cause an epic self rescue). Even with all that, we managed to get home in time to shower and head out to some holiday parties. I left people in awe of my cookie eating skills.
Monday we opened presents that Santa left under the toilet plunger. Then Adam, Katie and I went to Chiller Pillar. It was in good condition and we enjoyed toproping. Finished the trip on Tuesday climbing Pitchoff Left in single digit temperatures.
