In Cork, we settled in at our hostel and went to explore the English Market, which claims to be the oldest continuously running indoor market--unclear what the scope of that claim is. Maybe the whole world. Our highlight there was the local cheese. It turns out Ireland has a budding local foods movement, and Cork is the culinary capital. We went to a fancy vegetarian restaurant the next night, which had good plant matter, but Ireland is mostly pasture, so the real deal is the meats and cheeses.
